About the Firm

Olasov, LLP reunites a team of lawyers, each with decades of experience, who have jointly represented clients at prior legal venues: David M. Olasov, Susan B. Egan, and Owen D. Kurtin.

As a group, we embody three distinctive professional characteristics which facilitate the provision of highly responsive, efficient and effective value-added legal service:

First, each of our lawyers has been trained and practices both as a business or “corporate” lawyer and as a litigator. We understand our clients’ needs as organizations with “real world” economic objectives and, as litigators, we work to protect those objectives in the face of opposing or countervailing parties, competitors and regulatory and operating regimes. Our practices have matured differently from those in the huge, institutional law firms, where the skills of the corporate lawyer and those of the litigator are kept separate and no lawyer has the skillset and perspective of the other. At the Olasov Firm the benefits of our training reflect learning over many representations and not just a dialogue between different practice groups of a large institution. Importantly, each of our lawyers has managed firms in which they have practiced, and we bring to our representations the distinctive understandings of business people: the capability to exercise cost-benefit analysis, the knowledge of when to compromise and when to hold the line, and the ability to keep the client’s ultimate business objectives in sight while negotiating or litigating.

Second, a significant component of the practice of our lawyers is in international representations, for both in-bound and out-bound services. We are comfortable in “translation” for those entering the North American business environment for the first time.
