Owen D. Kurtin
Owen D. Kurtin’s practice focuses on corporate, commercial and regulatory representation of both mature and early stage companies, investors, and lenders in the Biotechnology & Life Sciences, Communications & Media, Information Technologies, and Satellites & Space sectors. He is also experienced in the Energy and Financial Services sectors.
Owen advises on a wide range of M&A and private equity transactions, including buyouts, divestitures, and roll-ups; cross-border joint ventures and strategic alliances; securities offerings and private placements; and financial and strategic investments. He also counsels company boards and officers on their fiduciary obligations and other governance issues, and shareholders and creditors on their rights. He has also implemented “Swiss Principal” and related corporate governance structures for multinational enterprises.
Owen also advises on complex and regulated commercial arrangements such as the development, financing, manufacture, procurement, outsourcing, distribution, and deployment of: terrestrial, satellite and submarine broadband telecommunications and digital media networks; telecommunications, aerospace, energy, IT, health IT, data privacy and cyber security services, software and equipment; biotechnology and life sciences products; and digital media content and other intellectual property licensing and monetization. He has advised on cross-border transactions throughout Western and Eastern Europe; The Middle East and Persian Gulf; and Central, South, and East Asia. He is fluent in French.

Susan B. Egan
Susan B. Egan has practiced in the employment law field for more than 30 years. She represents large and small employers, including startups, in all matters concerning their employees, including compliance with federal, state, and city regulations governing wages and hours, overtime, workers compensation and unemployment insurance. She also drafts corporate policies and procedures, employment contracts, severance agreements, noncompetition, and confidentiality agreements, implements human resources programs, and trains supervisors in compliance issues.
Susan represents employers in court in defense of discrimination suits, including sex, race, age, disability, and pregnancy discrimination claims, and in hostile work environment and harassment claims. Susan also represents employers and employees in employment and severance agreement litigation and in noncompetition and confidentiality agreement litigation, and in arbitrations and mediations before federal and state departments of labor and other administrative agencies on claims of noncompliance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and its state and city progeny.
Previously, Susan practiced with Winthrop Stimson Putnam & Roberts and Edwards & Angell, for which she was managing partner of its New York office and a member of the firm-wide executive committee. She founded Egan Law Firm in 2002.
